Vidgle to Address What Really Happened At Katsucon

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Mia, Anthony and FredVidgle will be addressing what really happened at Katsucon over the weekend, and it all happened behind the camera. Jenthony Enterprises, Inc. voted that the information should be addressed and let the public be aware. The situation that happened with Vidgle even sparked rumors on the convention floor. Anthony recently taped his statement in the Vidgle studios tonight and it won’t be released till later this week. “The episodes may even be up later then expected because we need to take care of this incident first.”

All we can say is that we are upset about the outcome with our coverage.

Vidgle is About to be “Up To Speed”

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Mia, Anthony and FredVidgle was among one of the first video podcasts to cover conventions with the theme of anime, science fiction, and gaming. And now, my plan to have more shows on Vidgle will begin later this month. In the beginning of Vidgle, there were two shows outside of “Con Goer.” One was “Cruzin’ Hollywood,” a entertainment news show and “The Vidgle Sports Report.” At the time, I didn’t know that “Con Goer” would attract to over 50,000 viewers in its second season. Then again, I created the show to bring in my experience of broadcasting into a field that has less media attention. Till this day, Con Goer is receiving many new fans from around the world. With the latest Viewer Map module we installed last month, we can see who watched us from what places. After our recent trips to small conventions in Pennsylvania, now a majority of our audience is based out of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

Vidgle currently has three studios. One studio is located in the same studio as WRAJ Internet Radio. Another studio is shared with the content center, the content center, which is basically like a newsroom. The last studio is the green room studio, the studio has been ready since June.

Premiering first will be AZ Tech Talk, a technology show hosted by Anthony and with co-anchor Sarah.

Another show will be an anime review show. There are two other shows going to premiere later this year but is not ready for an announcement yet.

Vidgle to Ban Users of Suspicious Activities

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Ban Page PreviewIt was one of my most toughest decisions in my 8 years of online media entrepreneurship to start banning users of suspicious activity. In the Vidgle division of Jenthony today, we completed the setup of a banning system that would block users by their IP address and/or nameserver. Banning users hasn’t been into high consideration for years.

The last time it was consideration was back in August 2003, a Texas man was sending threatening messages to me on our website forums for WRAJ Internet Radio and through email. In some of the messages, he sent emails of very strong languages and notes saying that he was going to chase me down and kill me. And news broke out within 24 hours that he was arrested after threatening to kill a radio personality. It was during the court cases that the man states that he hates the large media. When my evidence came up during the trail (since we submitted all emails and system logs to federal court), he attacked me because WRAJ Internet Radio at the time was beginning to form a corporation by 2005. Instead, WRAJ Internet Radio was purchased by Jenthony Enterprises, Inc. in 2005 instead of forming its own company. Before the man was arrested, our old hosting provider did not allow us to “block” connections to an IP address or user. Today, our hosting provider allows banning disconnections from certain IP addresses.

Now in 2010, we are beginning to fully implement a banning system because of an investigation we conducted in November. A group of “kids” who we were able to identify in our investigation, decided to go  on a one-star vote for every video spree when we launched Vidgle’s 2.0 engine back in September. And till this day, they vote 1 stars on videos on a regular basis.  Due to company privacy, I cannot post more information about  this incident.

But for weeks, I had to decide of what we should do to conclude with this investigation. So instead, we decided to form the banning system so we can prevent future attacks. A lot of people would agree in the company’s decision to block IP addresses because of an incident like this would make our website more fair, especially on our rating system. So on Monday, Jenthony Enterprises, Inc. is changing its visitor agreement and privacy policy to prevent attacks like this on all of its online media properties.

On top of this message is what the banned user will get if the IP address he/she is using is banned. The user can see the report of why the IP addressis banned and can contact the IP Ban Manager to see if the ban can be lifted for that IP address. For laughs, the error 20102 came from Nintendo’s error code when a user would do “unauthorized activity.”

A Preview of Vidgle 2.0

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Within 24 hours, I am about to roll out a project I have been working on for over 2 months. And that was the recoding process of Vidgle’s  engine. Now its going to roll out tomorrow night. It will have a new appearance across the platforms of Vidgle’s distribution; mobile, iPhone, and computer. A TV version of Vidgle, Vidgle TV, will be rolling out in January and is currently in coding process. Vidgle TV will allow people to watch Vidgle episodes on web-enabled TV set-top boxes, such as the Wii and Playstation 3.

Here are several shots of the new Vidgle engine:

Entire Katsucon Masquerade Now Up!

Friday, March 6th, 2009

It’s finally up! The entire masquerade from Katsucon 15 is now up on Vidgle! We apologize for the delay, its just we have been busy with our other coverage of New York Comic Con and Wicked Faire as well. And we are also working and laying out a new show on Vidgle which requires us to have a set.

Ok, forget about the production, let’s talk about the masquerade for just a minute. This video link is also updated on the podcast feed (check iTunes or your podcast software to see if you already have the video downloaded already). I may suggest you to subscribe to Vidgle because this video is long which requires a lot of bandwidth. In fact, it might be best to have a copy on your computer incase if you want to share it with friends. Individual videos of the masquerade will be posted in the upcoming days as well so you can jump to a certain skit without downloading the entire skit verison (which is this). If you are a fan of HD, the skits were shot in HD but won’t be up until April when we will be launching our HD podcast feed.

Oh yeah, the link… I almost forgot. The video is available here on vidgle.com. Of course if you want a higher quality, subscribe to the Vidgle podcast feed by clicking here or searching Vidgle on iTunes.

And finally, on the next episode of the Con Goer… we will be having a new voice announcer. If you are a big fan of Newgrounds, her voice might sound familier to you. Until then, enjoy watching the Con Goer as we are swinging by with Season 2!

Vidgle To Be in HD By Spring

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

As you might of recalled back a few weeks ago, Vidgle began shooting in HD. All production work for the past year, such as graphics, were produced in HD. A few weeks ago, I posted a blog entry about videos being presented in HD on the website, it turns out that several people liked that favor. So we have decided to put HD videos, as well as our original formatted videos, on to the site.

New York Comic Con 2009 was the first episodes of Con Goer series to be shot in high definition. Though it takes a bit longer for the videos to be uploaded, we feel that uploading HD videos may expand our horizons. The HD videos will also have its own podcast feed.

When is this going to happen, sometime by our coverage of Anime Boston.

Vidgle in HD?

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

At Vidgle we have begun shooting our Con Goer series in high definition and all future shows will be shoot in 1080i HD as well. We started in HD this year since we have upgraded our equipment to handle the high definition video smoothly. We are using 6 GB of RAM on our Mac Pro currently and we are planning to max it to 16 GB by the end of the year. This upgrade of equipment wasn’t that expensive since all of our equipment were HD ready, we just didn’t have our video coverage in HD.

Our first coverage in HD was at New York Comic Con in New York City. You can see the HD picture by clicking on the picture above and then clicking it again on the page its displayed in. We currently only master it into 720p HD instead of 1080i.

Some cosplayers were excited that we began filming in HD so that the camera can pick up every single thing they are wearing.

There is some sad news though with this HD transition, the website is not expected to have the HD version in the years to come. All of our videos are on our website server in Los Angeles, not a third party podcast syndication network. Though we have a lot of space, it takes alot of disk space, such as 1 gigabyte for just one of videos. We are planning to have a HQ version which is in EDTV format (that’s 854×480 SD) but we think it is not worth establishing yet. But when we believe the time comes of establishing the HQ or HD feed, we will establish it. Vidgle already has a mobile website, flash video for desktop websites, and a podcast format.

The first Con Goer video that was mastered in HD will be available on Vidgle later today. Click here for the video.

Here are some other pictures in HD that you can find in our video. We’ll let you decide if its better or not! Just click on the picture, then click on the picture that displays on the page it brings you to too get the experience.

Jon is now in high definition!

Jeff for the first time in HD!

New York Comic Con Audio Podcast Saturday Night

Not as good as last year, Fred and I talked about our experience at New York Comic Con on the WRAJ Internet Radio podcast. Our video reports will start coming in later this month. Click here to listen.

Vidglah, A Tentative Name and an Idea

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Well, I’m excited to tell all my friends that a show, with a tentative name of Vidglah, will be on Vidgle sometime before the summer begins. The show will be on Vidgle and will be updated weekly in the beginning. Unlike the Con Goer podcast and other shows on Vidgle, this show will be having a set. Well, the show will be mocking the set of Lucky Channel on the anime series “Lucky Star.” If you haven’t seen the show before, this is how the Lucky Star segment looks like:

As you can tell, the background consists of stars and moons, and that is what will our backdrop will be. We had the idea to have the stars light up on the backdrop curtain but the set manager said that it can lead to a fire hazard.

Unlike Lucky Channel, there will be two parts of the set, a desk (like above) and an interview area, which has a couch for when we have guests on the show. The set will be in what is the green room for WRAJ Internet Radio and here how its going to be layed out:

Currently the show content will be related to people who draw interest in video games, technology, anime, sci-fi, and other similar genres. The show talents has not been chosen yet and will be decided by myself sometime in March. Set construction won’t begin till March.
