Upcoming 2008 Conventions

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

Here are a list of conventions I’m planning to go to for 2008:

  • IBS Radio Conference – New York, NY: Hotel Pennsylvania ( March 7, 8 )
  • Anime Boston – Baltimore, MD: Haynes Convention Center ( March 21 – 23 )
  • I-CON – Stony Brook, NY: Stony Brook University ( April 4 – 6 )
  • Renaissance Fair – NJ ( ? )
  • Sign Business & Digital Graphics, Printwear Show – Baltimore, MD: Baltimore Convention Center ( June 21 )
  • E3 Media and Business Summit – Los Angeles, CA: Los Angeles Convention Center ( July 15 – 18, CID )
  • Otakon – Baltimore, MD: Baltimore Convention Center( August 8 – 10 )
  • MangaNext – Secaucus, NJ: TBA ( TBA )

Some of the conventions, like Anime Boston, is not giving me a press pass because they believe we don’t cover that much anime. We are hoping by 2009, we will be able to get press passes from all conventions because of the reporting we are doing at all of the anime conventions we are covering with Vidgle this year beginning with Anime Boston.

I truly enjoy going to conventions, I’ve been going to different type of conventions since I was 5. I’ve been to bus shows, trade shows, sign shows, radio conferences, anime and sci-fi, and more. I’ve meet many people, especially at the Live365 conferences in 2004 and 2005 in California. By 2009 or 2010, I am planning to have a radio and internet conference covering podcast, internet radio, and other streaming technology. I’m also in full support for Jon’s idea of our own anime convention which is cheap, small and at a great location. I hope to get those two conventions alive by the beginning of the decade.

MangaNext is this Weekend

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Its about time, I’m going away this weekend. However, I’m not calling it a ‘vacation,’ just a weekend to hangout with several friends. If you can understand, I feel like getting out of my house for a weekend. I’m willing to go own a private vacation, but its not going to happen until May when my spring semester is over.

This will be my fourth con for this year, the following con will be in December. I will try to relax a little bit at the con, i am not sure if I will be dressing up again.

Second, Jen and I are giving this a try, staying with Louis and friends in an hotel room. And that’s not all, 10 people will be staying in the room. And I agreed to myself, “If I don’t like the experience, I will never do it again.” Which again refers to other conventions, including AnimeBoston, and Otakon. But I am sure that it would be a lot of fun!

I can’t wait for the big blast at the con and I’ll see everyone there.

PS: We might sell Pocky!

I-CON is Over

Monday, March 26th, 2007

This is my fourth year going (I Think, maybe three) to ICON (I-CON), which I didn’t go last year. This year was pretty fun, and I did cosplay for the first time this year, since I had a few minutes and bucks to make a costume. I dressed up like Mario, from Super Mario Bros. I got a lot of compliments from other guests of the convention and friends. All I need is to get a mustache, which Mary and Jen helped me out; little Chris is willing to sell me the one that used for the Pants skit for $19.99 (I think not!).
Congrats to skit performed by Jen, Sam, Sarah, Amy, Robin, Melissa, and Jeff (known as ‘Ruffles’), which won second place. The recording and audio editing were all done here at the WRAJ Internet Radio studios!

Pictures are up now from I-CON by clicking here.

Videos from the Pants skit and Ruffles skit will be on this website later today. The videos will be posted on the Nerd Night Page.

IBS Stuff and Pics

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

Besides the troubled RIAA and CRB problems bothering my life with WRAJ, I did attend the IBS conference in New York City last weekend. Friday was the fun day, while Saturday was the boring day.

I got into the conference a few minutes late Friday because of parking issues I had the train station. Later, I got into interesting conversations with several other students from different colleges. I stayed at the conference till 6 until I left to go out to eat. I did stay at the same hotel the conference was held that night, and Saturday night as well.
No one from Five Towns went Saturday, besides my friend Rob. I was in several panels on Saturday, After attending several panels on Saturday, I meet up with my sister Jen and friends, Jim and Fred. We went to Rockefeller Plaza later that night and purchased ‘Sorry’ at Toys ‘R Us in Times Square (Why did we get it, I don’t know). Sunday morning, Jim and I went to Top of the Rock and what a great view!

Pictures at IBS can be seen by clicking here.

Not Another Flood

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

It has happened before, and it has happened again. Another flood has happened in the basement, especially the WRAJ studio area. Luckily, no equipment was damaged, and no one got hurt. The on-air broadcast stream was not affected. The cause was a drain that failed As of now, there is going to be a meeting sometime next week to avoid floods, likely action will be takin.
It’s time for another game bowling. The score sheets are posted, by clicking here.

Lets Go to the Diner!

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Another Friday is here at a last, and for tonight’s hangout we are going to the diner tonight; from the demands of Jimmy and I. If anybody has a problem with that, then don’t hang out this evening.
Anyways, I have finally recieved confirmation of some panels I will be in for the IBS convention. I will be in the panel for Podcasting, and Using computers at your station/website creation. I hope to have pictures of the trip posted in the photo gallery on this site.
I am planning to go to the Apple Developers Conference in June in San Francisco. I am unsure if I want to go, but I think I will be going.

Back From PA + New Pictures

Monday, February 5th, 2007

I just got back from Pennyslvania a couple hours ago and I had a great time. I went with my sister and my cousins to Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains. Yeah, its the hotel with a waterpark inside (what there is a water park?). We drove up Saturday morning and left Sunday afternoon, I think we should have done two nights instead of one (to much confusion lol)

I didn’t ski (second I think there wasn’t enough time to do so) but I did go snow tubing. I wanted to repeat the video I did back on the senior trip (Video Here) but it wasn’t safe with the tube I had. However, my boot, for some reason, did fall off when I was going down. Now that was funny lol.

Although I was on the poolside for 4 hours, I did not go in the pool because of my sensitive skin, instead I was working on the next handbook for the station.  Did I accomplish it, … no.

There is nothing else other than I had a great time. I’m actually trying to plan out the next trip with my aunt since this trip was so much fun.

And the pictures can be seen by clicking here.
