Four years ago, it was an experiment on WNBC’s digital subchannel 4.2 and then months later, it became available to all NBC stations. Now Weather Plus will be going off the air by the end of the year. After the acquisition of NBC and The Weather Channel earlier this month,  NBC announced that it will remove the channel. It is already believed that WNBC will be replacing the digital sub-channel with its 24 hour news channel, which of course is an experiment before phasing to the eight other NBC O&O stations.
