The Birthday Report

Monday, November 12th, 2007

My birthday is FINALLY over, not to be mean or anything, I didn’t want to celebrate my birthday this year for many reasons! I didn’t want a party or dinner party this year, and thats what I got which made me a little happy. The above photo is from my birthday party last year at my offices, which that back corner to the right is now a closed-in studio for WRAJ. Last year’s party is why I decided not to celebrate my birthday this year, I did something so unordinary in front of all my friends that I can’t remember how it happened or why it happened and it made so upset that it still makes me upset today. I don’t want to talk about what happened here, hopefully you’ll understand. So I promised myself last year that this year I’ll have a quiet birthday, in which I did and I’m so happy that I did that.

Troubles and a Video

Friday, November 9th, 2007

If you noticed in my Facebook feed that I have posted notes called “HTTP 404 > Not Found.” It turns out it was one of the problems I had with my site last night, as more than 400 people accessed the site at one time which caused the servers to crash. If you didn’t know, Facebook imports my notes from my blog at anthonyzaragoza.com which sits on wrajradio.com.

And with this trouble, I must bring your attention of a video that I must show you. This video was for a science project that I worked on with Niki and Tonia, it is meant to be posted on the internet to spread the word that Five Towns College is not going green! Don’t worry, I didn’t use my full journalism skills for this video as we had a short time with the video and footage. It has a low quality because of the way YouTube accepts videos. The video took a few days to create because we are getting ready for the future of video editing in my offices! You can watch the video by clicking here. Be warned, what you about to hear is true! I don’t know if we had the best presentation in the class, but our science professor asked us if she can show this to the administration, so I said “sure, why not.”

I Can’t Even Do a Barrel Roll!

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

This week, I am going to be busy as a flying bee. Yesterday, for just an hour of my day to take a break from everything, I couldn’t even play my StarFox 64 game, because everyone is just distracting me. I just started the game, and when I went upstairs to get something, my family was going after me like if I wasn’t there for about 50 years, telling me to do stuff. As soon as I know it, my free damn hour is gone! To me, its not fair, I have projects, essays,  and homework to do. In the beginning of my day I put in an hour of free time at 9PM, and continue doing work after 10. I know, I was going to miss Heroes, but I’ll watch it again Saturday if I can. Instead my free time was only from 9 to not even 9:10.

I’m at school right now, my plans for the rest of day is radio theater rehearsal, followed by allergy shots, followed by a small dinner, and then an early night sleep at around 9PM. Well, just as long that no one distracts me.

And a quick reminder to everyone that I am not celebrating my birthday due to personal issues. If you want to do anything for my birthday, well just as long as its not on my birthday, I’ll be fine with that.

Was Albus Dumbledore Gay?

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

For Mary, Jen, Mike, and other Harry Potter fans, did you ever wonder if Albus Dumbledore was gay? Well, according to author J.K. Rowling, he is. After when Rowling finished reading “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows” to an audience on Friday, one young listener asked Rowling about his “true love.” She responded, “Dumbledore is gay.” Rowling concluded with a “Oh, my god,” and a a laugh.

The Birthday/Sleepover party was fun. Not that much to say about it, the pictures are here. Enjoy.

MangaNEXT 2007: Reactions and Stuff

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Got back from MangaNEXT a few hours ago and what a great time I had.

Okay, here are the stuff. Pictures are here (click me)! And a video of the elevator shortcut to skip into front of the long line is here. If you went to the con or not, you will find this video hilarious.
As I mentioned a few days ago about a false alarm at Five Towns, there was a another fire alarm at MangaNEXT! Shortly after I posted in my blog on the first floor, the alarms started to go off on the floors above us. So floors 2-9 were evacuated to the first floor at around 4 in the morning and were sent back to their rooms a half hour later. It turned out that someone was smoking in the staircase, I guess he couldn’t wait any longer for the elevator line. In the upcoming days, I will be uploading the “MangaFIRE,” which I was able to catch during the false fire alarm.

I had a great time at this con and I found the ‘alot of people’ in the room thing more fun and I would do that again. Not many things were going, which made me feel more relaxed.
Well I’m off! Enjoy

False Fire Alarm at Five Towns

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

There was a false alarm today when the fire alarms at Five Towns College went off. According to my friend, a student set off the alarm. At the time I was leaving my post at WFTU, leaving hosts Dan and Justin on the air. As I was preparing to leave the campus, I put on the station. Then when I was pulling out the fire alarms were going off. So I ran inside and told them to put the station on auto pilot and leave the station until a clear signal is given. Shortly after, maintenance put the alarm till silent to investigate.

What was funny was that students were still walking in and around in the school while the fire alarms were going off. My sister, waiting in the car, was laughing how everyone is acting ‘normal’ and what Justin and Dan was saying on the radio. Justin and Dan went on the air again a few minutes after the evacuation.

Of course this moment made me remember the time when the fire alarms went off on WNBC last year on the 11 O’clock news with Sue and Chuck. Here is a clip.

In December 2005, there was another false alarm I was involved in which took place here at WRAJ Internet Radio offices at 3 in the morning. Many police officers and firefighters were here as carbon monoxide detectors were going off. In result, the batteries on the central panel for the detectors failed and was replaced the following weekend.

So what will be the next false alarm and how will it be?

Plans for the Month – October 2007

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007
  • MangaNext is this weekend, and I will be leaving Friday night and coming back on Sunday evening. I’ll talk about it in my blog on Tuesday. I will be joining Jen, Sarah, Fred, Jon, Louis, Merideth, and the rest of the crew. Sleeping with 10 people in the room doesn’t sound comforting, but I’m going to give it a shot!
  • WFTU Radio Theater is on October 17. I will be having a small role once again on stage and on the radio with this popular event.
  • I am planning to have meetings throughout the month for the new radio channel we are opening up in January.
  • I’m also planning to have meetings for our new video website that I am trying to start with my friend Niki. So far the only name we thought of was ZaraCruz, but to me it sounds like a cruiseline. This also marks the beginning of our live video streaming that I would like to start by 2010, when we will have plenty of bandwidth. A plan that I’ve been planning since 2004.
  • Halloween: No idea of what I am doing. Most likely I will be hanging out with Fred and Jen. And yes, I will be wearing a costume into school that day, not the “costume” costume.
  • Christmas shopping has begun for me. I am getting everyone a gift before November 20.

And so far for next month, November:

  • My birthday is November 11. No party or special gatherings are planned for that day and I want to keep it that way.
  • I will be away for Thanksgiving.
OMG: I Got Mario DDR!

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Yesterday, I was able to get Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix at the mall for $50 (w/o the mat), not on Ebay for $250. As some of you may be aware, Mario DDR is hard game to find in stores, and the possible way is to get it used. My game is used and worked alright when I popped it in to my Wii. I already had the Mat that I got through Nintendo.

Since the new DDR game for the Wii is coming out this week, I’m going to get my second Mat with that game, since it is going to be plugging in the Gamecube slot, just like Mario DDR.
Some of my friends who are big Nintendo fans are very jealous of me because now I have the game and they don’t.

Finally, I would like to give a big thanks to Fred, who discovered Mario DDR at the mall while we were hanging out with Jen, Jesse, Jon, Merideth, and Diesel.

No Birthday Plans For Me

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Although my birthday is two months away, I want to let people know I am planning to do nothing for my birthday. After an incident at my birthday party last year, I just want to be by myself on my birthday. I just want to have my birthday as a typical Sunday, the day when my birthday falls on of course. If you want to have a (surprise) birthday party for me that is not on my birthday, feel free to plan one. I just want my birthday to be what I promised myself last year.
I will be 20 on November 11.
