All I have to say is “wow” about our Otakon coverage two weeks ago. As the leader with four reporters, four photographers, producers, cameramen, and a few contributors; we had a total of over 3,000 photos and eight hours of video coverage! Otakon marks as the largest coverage that we’ve done with our “Con Goer” series; Con Goer is the most viewed series on Vidgle. The photos has been posted, and the video podcast episodes are coming in weekly since Otakon.
I would like to thank Jen, Sarah, I-hsiu, Kim, and especially Jon Ko who have taken pictures of Otakon like mad! Most of the pictures are up, but the ones missing are most of the masquerade photos. Those will be up very soon. You can take a look at our pictures here.
With the video podcast coverage, we are getting many hits with our current two episodes. We are planning to launch the Friday episode in a few days! There will also be a Saturday and Sunday Out and About coverage, and a wrap up report in the upcoming weeks. We will have videos of the Phoenix Wright Trail panel and JamProject’s press conference as well. Again, you can watch the videos here.
We did run into a mic issue when we were interviewing with a Mr. Game and Watch cosplayer (which will be on the next episode). It turns out that one of our reporter microphones died so we got stuck with one and prayed that the second one won’t die for the entire weekend. We normally bring extra microphones but the connector part from the microphone to the camera broke, so a microphone replacement won’t do and a trip to the Best Buy down the street won’t do either since the part is not found in stores.
We will be publishing a review of my Otakon experience in the upcoming week on the Vidgle blog and everyone else will be a writing a response as well.
Our next con coverage for the Con Goer is New York Anime Festival in September. The final con coverage for this year will be MangaNEXT, which will take place on Halloween weekend. We will then have the “Best of 2008″ in December as the reporters and crew sit down at our studios and discuss their favorite cons of this past year.
The door that everyone has entered into the basement of nerd heaven, which says WRAJ Internet Radio for the past 4 years, is being replaced today. In the WRAJ Internet Radio photo gallery, the image above of the door has been the top 5 most viewed image in the photo gallery.
Because of the longevity of the door for the past 18 years, the door is beginning to rust by the floods we had earlier this decade. We will miss this door, as it was our symbol for WRAJ and the friendship around me and my friends. We will miss it dearly.
When it comes to online media, it seems like large media organizations are buying small online media organizations like crazy. MySpace belongs to News Corp. (the same company that owns Fox Broadcast), Last.FM with CBS, iVillage belongs to NBC, Go.com belongs to Disney/ABC, YouTube belongs to Google. In the past 10 months, WRAJ Internet Radio and Vidgle has been in a middle of offers by 5 major media corporations which the list is being disclosed. The highest offer now is $10 million and was rejected by the company, a decision I have made. Thats right, I, a 20 year old college student, have rejected $10 million offer to buy my website. The earliest offer was $2.5 million back in December 2007 and was rejected.
I would like to say I want to keep the radio website and our new properties in the upcoming years, including Vidgle, owned by my company, not a large corporation. Though we might get a lot of support from the larger corporations and abroad if we do take an offer, I just feel that I should continue of what I’m doing because I am having fun with it, and so is my friends. Because of WRAJ Internet Radio, we were able to form a company out of it, forming Jenthony Enterprises, Inc., to this day, we are the only internet radio station that was able to form a company within the first 3 years of operation.
Now let me get back to work with WRAJ Internet Radio, Vidgle, and our newly to be released NewMusic101.com online radio station (maybe I shouldn’t have said it to early).
Hey everyone who goes to Five Towns (or anywhere else),
Did you ever want to start a podcast on a large scale? Well now here is your chance to begin podcasting on my podcast mediums which has an audience of 1,000 users. As you might already know, we have already launched our video podcast network, Vidgle. Vidgle has already over 1,000 viewers monthly and over 500 podcast subscribers, either through a podcast fetcher software, Google Videos, Miro Guide, and the iTunes store. Our most famous show is “Con Goer,” a show which we report from a sci-fi, comic, and/or anime convention. Such conventions include New York Comic Con, I-CON, and Otakon.
And launching in September is our new podcast medium, an audio podcast which will be run and operated by WRAJ Internet Radio called the WRAJ Internet Radio podcast. Not only your show will be on a podcast feed, but it will be aired Sunday mornings on WRAJ Internet Radio. Shows premiering in September include a tech talk show, “Con Goer,” and a few others.
With your show, you will be able have press access to some events if it covers under your show, including conventions, local events, sports events, concerts, etc.
Your podcast must be “clean” and family friendly. And if you want to have a audio podcast, you can simply produce the show with any program you wish to do and finalize it as an MP3 file. And if you are willing to do a video podcast, you must use a video camera, not a webcam. You can use any video editing program you want and must be in 854×468 in widescreen or 640×468 letterbox in allowed formats (m4v, dv, mp4, mpg) when sending it to us for approval per episode. If you have any questions about formatting your show, feel free to ask.
If you are interested to begin podcasting with us in the fall, feel free to contact via email or Facebook.
Here is a rough schedule that I might have in the fall for my senior year at Five Towns College (wow, I never it thought I would ever say that). Since I am not taking internships because “I already have relations in the industry and part of it,” of what my adviser told me, I will be taking 2 level 3/400 classes to make up my internship credits and a required class for the spring and then I am done with school (I’m ahead because I went to summer school in case you were wondering). Below is my schedule, for the fall:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday:
10:00AM – 10:50AM: BUS111A Business Organization and Mangament with Alvarez (35)
11:00AM – 11:50AM: MAC301 New and Emerging Media with Prusslin (14)
Tuesday Thursday:
12:00PM – 1:15PM: ENG203 Journalism with Wax (20)
1:30PM – 2:45PM: MAC401 Public Opinion with Mr. To Be Arranged (20)
3:00PM – 4:15PM: VID131A Television Workshop with Mr. To Be Arranged (28)
Wow, I get Mr. To Be Arranged twice in a row! I must be special!
Numbers next to the class is how many students there are as of July 23, not including myself on BUS111A.
