Yay! Vidgle is now on iPhone!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

If you have a iPhone or an iPod Touch, I have some great news for you. On Wednesday, we launched our first web app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that works with Vidgle’s video database. Though there is no name for it, we simply call it “Vidgle on iPhone” as the code name. We only support and tested the new web app on the newest software version of iPod Touch and iPhone. Since we support multiple video formats for each video since our launch, we were able to create this web app in just 5 hours of coding. Now you don’t need a computer to watch Vidgle or sync to our podcast feed when you’re on the go.

This comes as we prepare to make new shows and bring in new episodes in the fall.

We tried to get this to work with Blackberrys, but they don’t support the H.264 encoding that we use when we finalize our videos in 3GP. Until then we won’t support videos for Blackberry.

“The internet is going mobile and portable very fast,” I always say, which is why we are beginning to launch many mobile sites like this in the upcoming year. Since WRAJ Internet Radio has joined the Nokia radio directory so users can listen to the station on their Nokia phone, we’ve had over 500 tune-ins directly from the directory since we joined publicly in January.

So if you want to try Vidgle out on your iPhone or iPod Touch, launch up Safari, and head over to vidgle.com. Then you will notice a message on the top of the page saying and telling you to “Touch here to use Vidgle on iPhone” (that means to touch that message). Now you are on the iPhone version of Vidgle’s video directory. If you want to bookmark it or add it to your home screen, do so at this time. If not, browse around a video just like you would do on the site, once when you run into a video, simply tap on the watch button and enjoy.

And if you don’t have an iPhone or iPod Touch and you would like to try it out, why not go to your nearest Apple store!

Please Note: Streaming video will increase your data usage. Please check your wireless provider’s data plans for details and pricing if using an iPhone.
Summer 2008 Ranks 2nd For Worst Summer EVER!!!

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Last summer was the worst, but this summer it was about the same. However, nothing can’t beat last summer as the worst summer I can ever have. In summer 2007, I worked nonstop and I wasn’t able to hangout with friends.

This summer though is different from last summer. Though I have had less work due to the crashing economy, I was able to have more time to hangout with friends. However, this entire summer, something on my mind kept bothering me to be with friends.

One was a question, “what am I going to do in a year from now?” Asked by many college students like myself, I don’t know exactly what I’ll be doing a year from now. There are many opportunities I can take but I just don’t know which one to pick.

Another question I ask myself, “do I really have time to relax in fall?” If you are unaware, I will need to take an internship for college, which honestly I won’t have time for. During the upcoming school year, not only I will be doing work for school, but also run a company which is expanding. A new division is formed for t-shirts called Save Point Designs. Currently, I have decided to find a way to be excused from the internship program and replace it with another class.

Lastly, what some of you may find funny, is dating. Did you know that in the last 4 years, I asked out over 20 girls on a date and they turned me down. Its kinda embarrassing for me, but yet I know some of you may find it funny. It upsets me now as I look back. Some of the girls who I ask out still talks to me, but most of them stopped talking to me while I try to talk to them back. I just don’t randomly ask a girl out, I let them get to know me and I want to get to know them; it seems like it doesn’t work that way in the real world. Of course the top 2 excuses that are mostly used are either “I know alot and I don’t want to hurt our relationship” and “i don’t feel like dating now” (which of course they go out on a date within the next week after they say that to me). For some reason, most of the time I don’t believe of what they say. Feeling rejected is hard, but 20 times is a big, huge “OUCH!” “I don’t get why you are rejected so many times,” a good friend of mine said to me. “You are an interesting guy with so much personality, experience, talent, and knowledgeable.” The question will always be unsolved for me and I’ll never find a “true” answer.

This has what has been bothering me lately since no one wants to talk to me in person or even on the phone about how I’ve been feeling lately. I would appreciate a friend to talk to me one-on-one with this, since I can’t seem to catch you.

So No Birthday Party Again?

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Yes, I don’t want to have another birthday party again in November, although it is my 21st birthday. My birthday is on November 11.

And just like last year, I announced around this time to remind my friends and family that I don’t want to do anything for my birthday. This year I will be doing it again, although it is early so I’ll be reminding everyone later on.

“I just want to have my birthday as a typical Sunday, the day when my birthday falls on of course. If you want to have a (surprise) birthday party for me that is not on my birthday, feel free to plan one. I just want my birthday to be what I promised myself last year.”

A quote in a post last year describing of what I wanted for my birthday last year, this year, I will be saying it again in the fall. But addition, please don’t plan any parties for me including surprise parties, I just hate it when I have all of the attention.

The New Facebook Look

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I tried out the new Facebook design look this week and I have to say that its great. The applications menu on the left side is now located on the top so that there is more room on the page. But what I like most is the new profile page for each registered user.

The applications of Facebook is in a separate tab called Boxes, so now loading up someone’s page, it will load faster because there are not many objects on the page.

It is expected that the new design will roll out in late July.

An Apology

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I need to acknowledge an unfortunate act that I made Sunday night to my friends and family.

I behaved in a way that I shouldn’t have acted to my family and especially my friends.

I am truly sorry to those friends and family members. It was a mistake on my part and I sincerely apologize.

All I ask now is a friend, a very close friend of mine, to come up and help me in this time of trouble for me.

Network Backup Drive Says Bye-Bye

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Bad news, our network backup drive has failed. The drive sounded like it was physically damaged, although it hasn’t been moved in over 2 months. The backup network drive was attached to the Mac through a Firewire cable. The brand was an Acomdata and was purchased late last year.

After when I heard sounds coming from one of the drives, it was narrowed down to the network drive by accessing to contents on each. But when trying to access the data, we ended up getting pre-Kernel Panic events, which slowed down the machine. It has now been taken offline for further investigation.

The next backup drive will be attached both to the network and the Mac

My Lively Room

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Just like other Google maniacs, I started to use Lively since Wednesday was the launched date. Lively is Google’s version of Second Life, which I have used several times and I just hate the registration part and remembering who I am. I created my avatar (as seen above) and created a room execlusively for Vidgle and WRAJ. Though, it is plan and white, we hope to have the room crowded by WRAJ and Vidgle fans soon.

So far its pretty good, very laggy (of course, Fred, Brian, and I always blame Cablevision for that end). But as I still stay away from 3D chat rooms, I see Lively a bit user friendly. And yes, the login is easier, just use your Google Account (or Gmail account) to login so its not that hard to remember the login, which I have that problem alot with Second Live.

You can go to my room by clicking here. If you have a Lively room, send me the room number (or the URL) and I’ll take a trip there one day.

It Feels Good to be Number 1

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

WRAJ Internet Radio, the station that I own for the past five successful years, is still at the number one slot for Long Island’s best internet radio station for 2007; according to a internet radio report. WRAJ Internet Radio has already had a successful year for 2008 as we have twice the audience than an average day for 2007. We hope to increase our listeners slots by the end of the summer so more listeners can tune in.

Not only our internet radio stream did well, but our website ratings through the roof for 2008. Since April, the website has reached an average of 6,000 unique visitors. And it has been announced that Jenthony will launch a massive marketing campaign to expand the station for the fall 2008 semester for college students. In a 2007 survey, it showed that most of the listeners of WRAJ are female college students listening in their dormitory.

Wish us luck for 2008 and 2009 and thanks for making WRAJ “Number One on Long Island.”

Everything was Normal at the Totally Normal Event

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Two weekends ago, I’ve attended another fine Wicked Event called Totally Normal Event (TNE for short and sweet). The event was once again operated by “the” Jeff Mach and was also a charity event for the SPARC Summer program (www.sparcsummer.org). So far this year, the Jeff Mach events were ranked highest for WRAJ and Vidgle, (Wicked Faire being first, New York Comic Con second, TNE ranking third, beating Long Island’s based I-CON in forth).

Just like the Wicked Faire back in February which we reported from, TNE was a bit better with the hotel. The faire was a bit more spacious than at the Holiday Inn for the Wicked Faire. The crew who were on assignment, Jen, Fred, James (new), Fred, Kim (new), and myself; had a great time.

“Everyone should go to a Jeff Mach event,” which alot of interviewers said to us in front of a Vidgle camera. Jen and James were reporting and got a chance to interview with Voltaire and the band Freezepop (and the con-goers as well). We hope to the interviews up by Friday (or maybe even earlier). Fred will be having his own version of the Con Goer called “The Fred Show” which will be premiering on Vidgle, and the show will actually let the viewers see behind the scenes of Vidgle’s most popular show.

Complete coverage of the Totally Normal Event can be found on the Vidgle site by clicking here, which includes pictures, videos, and blog posts.

The next convention I might be attending is MetroCon in Tampa, FL. We will not be doing a video report from there but we will be taking pictures! But the next convention with reporting and nonstop pictures will be Otakon in Baltimore, MD. Jesse (aka Optimus Prime), Jon, Jen, Louis (aka Mega-Tron), and Fred will be reporting!

Let Me Say This, I’m Not Gay

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

I’m serious, I have said this and I’m saying it again, “I’m Not Gay.” I’m neither Bi curious. I don’t know what else to say.

I have said this a bunch times to my friends because they believe I am gay, a few has even asked me out and I told them the truth.

But just because I’m willing to do something, such as “I want to bake a cake with Sarah,” doesn’t make me gay. Maybe, if you thought about it, it might be because I just like baking a cake with one of my best friends, thats all. I’ve baked cakes with her in the past and I had such a great time talking to her.

If some of my friends aren’t aware, I am looking for that special girl (ok, its been five years now and still nothing). But at least I am a patient person, not using online dating, singles gathering, or whatever; I’m waiting for someone who will come into my life who gives me that “wow, she’s the one.” That gives me an idea to write a romantic novel, I’ll put that on my agenda.
